“Don’t stop talking about Palestine” is my latest work, an anamorphic piece on pavement made at the Street Art Festival in Brande, Denmark. A young girl sits in the shade of a giant armadillo, next to a cart full of books, while an emaciated hare looks at the observer in amazement. In her hands she holds a stuffed toy and a Palestine flag. The armadillo is a symbol of resistance, protection and self-preservation, the hare represents the idea of rebirth, the books the connection between cultures and mutual understanding.
The ongoing genocide in Gaza and the attacks in Iran are two sides of the same strategy. In a context in which international criticism of the war in Gaza is growing louder, Isra3l is trying to drag its allies into a new conflict, to consolidate their support and at the same time divert attention from what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories. According to international law, preventive legitimate defense does not exist. The central question is whether the EU will continue to apply a double standard that is now unsustainable and under the eyes of the world.
Thanks to Henrik, Mogens, Bodil, Ole and all the people who managed the event and hugs to all my artist friends, I felt home again in Brande. I’ll post their pictures too in the next weeks.
For this piece I really have to tank Ruben Poncia because without his help I would never have finish, I was so late and the artwork too complicated.. my fault as always, too many things in each piece!
“Don’t stop talking about P*lestin4” è il mio ultimo lavoro, un’opera anamorfica su marciapiede realizzata allo Street Art Festival di Brande, in Danimarca. Una ragazzina siede all’ombra di un armadillo gigante, accanto a un carrello pieno di libri, mentre una lepre emaciata guarda l’osservatore con stupore. Tra le mani tiene un peluche e una bandiera di P*lestin4. L’armadillo è simbolo di resistenza, protezione e autoconservazione, la lepre rappresenta l’idea di rinascita, i libri la connessione tra culture e la comprensione reciproca.
Il genocidio in corso a Gaza e gli attacchi in Iran sono due facce della stessa strategia israeliana. In un contesto in cui le critiche internazionali alla guerra a Gaza si fanno sempre più forti, Israele sta cercando di trascinare i suoi alleati in un nuovo conflitto, per consolidare il loro sostegno e allo stesso tempo distogliere l’attenzione da ciò che sta accadendo nei territori palestinesi occupati.
Secondo il diritto internazionale, contrariamente a quanto sostengono gli Stati Uniti o Israele, la legittima difesa preventiva non esiste. Come si spiega allora che, poche ore dopo un attacco del tutto illegale da parte di Israele, le capitali occidentali si siano schierate a sostegno della narrazione di chi ha dato inizio all’aggressione? La domanda centrale è se l’UE continuerà ad applicare un doppio standard ormai insostenibile agli occhi del mondo.
