Last weekend of august I was in Sarajevo for Beton Fest, the international Bosnia’s street art festival. The theme was 20 years of Peace so I created a 3D pavement artwork on that subject.
The title was “Threatened peace”. The angry veiled girl was a personification of Peace at risk surrounded by arrows. For the idea of the arrows with its very important meaning I was inspired by a painting of the artist Peter van Oostzanen. A symbolic crow stand in front of the girl and his shadow seems to be a dark prospective of was possibilities.
The piece was 3,5 x 5 meters big.
People really appreciated the idea and expecially Muslims. The welcome from the local artists was great. I had never been in Sarajevo so the last day I took (unfortunately only) 2 hours to walk in the city. The Bascarsija was fascinating!
